Queensland's tourism industry wraps up a huge year with a host of new attractions and experiences including Australia's first segway tour in a national park, an art exhibition inspired by our great state and luxury fishing for anglers with champagne tastes.
BRISBANE – Renowned Chinese artist Cai Guo-Qiang has unveiled his first Australian solo exhibition, Falling Back to Earth, at the Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) in Brisbane.
The exhibition features three major installations, including two new works inspired by Queensland landscapes, a traditional tea pavilion and a hands-on kids program including virtual gunpowder drawings and 3D paper animal models.
Heritage showcases 99 life-like animal sculptures gathered around a water hole in GOMA’s largest gallery, inspired by the artist’s visit to Stradbroke Island with his family.
Cai’s second newly-commissioned piece Eucalyptus reflects his time exploring the ancient trees of Lamington National Park and the Daintree rainforest.
Following recent exhibitions in New York, Qatar, Los Angeles, Copenhagen, Rio de Janeiro and Venice, Cai’s latest masterpieces will call GOMA home until May 2014.
