Organised by SACEOS and the Singapore Exhibitions & Convention Bureau (SECB), the SMA attracted a diverse range of entries from the MICE ecosystem which includes Event Organisers, Venues and Suppliers.

SINGAPORE – The winners of the inaugural Singapore MICE Awards (SMA) were announced on 27 July 2023 at Sands Expo & Convention Centre, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, in celebration of the achievements and contributions of the Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions (MICE) industry.

As the first ever award dedicated to MICE, the SMA reflects the ever-increasing role that the industry play in driving Singapore’s economic growth and tourism receipts. The award is a testament to the unwavering resilience and spirit of innovation displayed by MICE companies and individuals over the past year. Their achievements and excellence have inspired the industry to relentlessly push boundaries, foster innovation, and drive positive change.

Richard Ireland, President, Singapore Association of Convention & Exhibition Organisers & Suppliers (SACEOS), said: “Together with the MICE community, we congratulate the winners of the Singapore MICE Awards for their outstanding contributions and transformative impact on the industry. Their achievements are a true reflection of the industry’s dedication and commitment in setting new benchmarks of excellence and raising the bar for innovation. As an award organised by the industry, for the industry, the Singapore MICE Awards serves as a platform to recognise excellence and inspire others to push the boundaries of what is possible.”

Organised by SACEOS and the Singapore Exhibitions & Convention Bureau (SECB), the SMA attracted a diverse range of entries from the MICE ecosystem which includes Event Organisers, Venues and Suppliers. The SMA features 10 exciting award categories such as Trade Show of the Year, Meeting/Conference of the Year, Venue of the Year and Sustainability Initiative of the Year.

The rigorous judging process involved industry experts from around the world, representing diverse backgrounds and perspectives. The winners of the SMA were determined based on the collective average scores and valuable inputs from the esteemed panel of judges. Beyond recognising and inspiring excellence in MICE, the awards strive to build industry recognition and credibility, drive industry growth and development, and provide a platform for sharing of best practices among MICE professionals in Singapore and the region.

Ryan Yuen, Managing Director, Singapore International Water Week (Winner of Trade Show of the Year), said: “We are honoured that Singapore International Water Week 2022 is awarded the ‘Trade Show of the Year’ presented by SACEOS at the inaugural Singapore MICE Awards 2023. This award validates the work of our team and partners in pulling off a safe and impactful event amid challenges of the pandemic. It will motivate us to produce an even better show in 2024.”

Paul Lee, Chief Executive (Markets), Constellar (Winner of Trade Show of the Year), said: “What an honour to be recognised by our industry peers at the inaugural Singapore MICE Awards. Jonathan Goh, Director, External Relations Department, Energy Market Authority (Winner of Meeting/Conference of the Year), said: “We are deeply honoured and humbled to receive the inaugural Meeting/Conference of the Year Award presented by SACEOS. James Crabtree, Executive Director, The International Institute for Strategic Studies–Asia (Winner of Meeting/Conference of the Year), said: “This award recognises two decades of work by the IISS and our partners in Singapore to build the IISS Shangri-La Dialogue’s into Asia’s Premier security summit. On behalf of everyone involved in the dialogue, we would like to thank the Singapore MICE Awards for their support for the vital work defence diplomacy continues to play in ensuring regional peace and security.”

Ong Wee Min, Vice President of Conventions and Exhibitions, MICE, Marina Bay Sands (Winner of Venue of the Year), said: “This award is testament to Marina Bay Sands’ focus on service excellence, customer experience and innovation. Loh Su Kim, Senior Vice President for Attractions and Sustainability, Resorts World Sentosa (Winner of Sustainability Initiative of The Year), said: “We are honored to receive the Singapore MICE award for Sustainability Initiative of the Year and would like to thank SACEOS and the organizing committee for recognizing RWS’ commitment to driving and catalysing positive change in the MICE industry. We firmly believe that sustainability is a key driver for long-term success in our industry and hope to inspire others to create enduring impact and forge a more responsible world.”

Sukumar Verma, Managing Director, Informa Markets Singapore (Winner of Sustainability Initiative of the Year), said: “Informa Markets is honoured receive the Sustainability Initiative of The Year award at Singapore MICE Awards.
