Tourism Minister highlights growth goals at opening of IAAPA APAC Spring Summit, focusing on collaboration and sustainability in attractions.

BALI, INDONESI – Taman Safari Bali hosted the esteemed opening of the IAAPA APAC Spring Summit. Spanning two days, the event brought together industry leaders from across the Asia Pacific region (March 7-8). The summit focused on sharing insights in attractions and sustainability, aligning with IAAPA APAC’s mission to promote growth in the region’s entertainment sector.

Minister’s Welcome and Industry Collaboration:

The summit kicked off at Taman Safari Bali with a series of thought-provoking activities. Notably, Indonesia’s Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, delivered a welcoming speech, highlighting the country’s ambitious goals.

  • He stated that Indonesia welcomed over 5 million tourists in 2023 and aimed for a 20-50% increase in 2024, targeting 7 million visitors.
  • He emphasized the importance of collaboration with partners like Hans Manansang of Taman Safari and other theme parks to expand attractions while prioritizing safety and environmental sustainability.
Engaging Sessions and Networking:

The event commenced with a “Coffee Meet & Greet” session, fostering connections in a relaxed atmosphere. This was followed by an “Education Sharing” session featuring prominent speakers:

  • Wiweko Adi Nugroho (Chairman, The Art & Culture Destination, Indonesia Recreation Park & Attraction (PUTRI))
  • Taufik (Chairman, Indonesian Family Recreation Association (ARKI))
  • Greg Pern (Head of Theme Park and Experience at HB Leisure)
  • David Bogdonov (Executive Vice President of APAC Whitewater)
  • Adrian Cecil (COO, Taman Safari Indonesia) shared valuable insights and experiences.
Showcasing Innovation and Wildlife:

The summit also featured unique experiences:

  • Guests enjoyed the Varuna underwater theatrical dining show.
  • A Safari Journey at Taman Safari Bali showcased the park’s innovation and diverse wildlife.
