MICHELIN Guide Thailand expands to Chon Buri: A culinary adventure by the sea

The MICHELIN Guide Thailand 2025 expands to include Chon Buri, highlighting the province’s diverse culinary scene and beachfront dining.

BANGKOK, THAILAND – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) announced that the forthcoming MICHELIN Guide Thailand 2025 will broaden its scope to include Chon Buri, a picturesque seaside province located just 80 kilometres from Bangkok.

The MICHELIN Guide Thailand is set to unveil its eighth annual edition in 2025, featuring Chon Buri, Bangkok’s nearest coastal gem, as its latest addition. This expansion underscores the guide’s commitment to showcasing the diverse and exceptional culinary offerings across Thailand‘s provinces, enticing gourmands and travellers to embark on a gastronomic journey like no other.

Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guides, shared his excitement, stating, “Chon Buri offers a plethora of attractions for travellers – from stunning beaches and serene temples to vibrant cultural performances and eclectic dining options. Its fresh seafood, local delicacies, and beachfront dining experiences make it a lively tourist destination. Our inspection team is eager to explore its gastronomic scene!”

Situated just 80 kilometres from bustling Bangkok, Chon Buri attracts not only locals seeking a quick getaway but also domestic and international visitors in search of sun, sea, and delectable cuisine. From local traditions and regional specialities to fresh seafood delights, Chon Buri caters to a diverse range of visitors, with renowned destinations such as Bang Saen, Pattaya, and Ko Lan captivating beach lovers from around the world.

Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, emphasized the pivotal role of the MICHELIN Guide Thailand in promoting Thai cuisine on the global stage. She remarked, “As an influential gastronomic reference, the MICHELIN Guide showcases Thailand’s dynamic culinary landscape, bolstering our position as a top gastro-tourism destination.”

The MICHELIN Guide’s expansion to Chon Buri aligns with Thailand’s national soft-power strategy, focusing on the 5Fs of Food, Fashion, Film, Fight, and Festival, aimed at enhancing the country’s global competitiveness in tourism.
