Galaxy Macau’s Food Festival returns with a grand opening ceremony

The setting for the festival, Oasis was transformed into a buzzing Malaysian night market – including a fresh durian corner – serving up a fantastic feast for the senses.

MACAU, CHINA – Galaxy Macau  launched its 9th Malaysian Food Festival with a memorable kick-off ceremony at Oasis at Galaxy Hotel. Attended by officiating guests from the Macao Government Tourism Office and the Consulate General of Malaysia in Hong Kong S.A.R. and Macau S.A.R., as well as senior management representatives from Galaxy Entertainment Group, the grand opening event marked the official start of the much-loved festival, which runs from July 20-30, 2023.

The setting for the festival, Oasis has been transformed into a buzzing Malaysian night market – including a fresh durian corner – serving up a fantastic feast for the senses. Against this colorful backdrop of Malaysian-themed decorations and authentic experiences, the opening event began with a cocktail reception followed by a lively performance that combined hip-hop dancing with Malaysian songs. Mr. Raymond Yap, Senior Director of Integrated Resort Services of Galaxy Entertainment Group, followed by a short speech to warmly welcome all guests.

“Galaxy Macau is committed to offering a wide and varied selection of cuisines and unique dining experiences for our guests to savor, while also highlighting Macau’s status as a global dining hub and a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy. With the support from Macao Government Tourism Office, we are proud to promote the Macau SAR Government’s ‘Tourism + Gastronomy’ initiative and the efforts to develop Macau into a World Center of Tourism and Leisure. And we are thrilled to once again host the Malaysian Food Festival, giving our guests the opportunity to sample the country’s wonderful and varied cuisine,” said Mr. Yap.

Guests then tucked into a delicious dinner buffet packed with delicious Malaysian signature dishes.

Returning after a three-year hiatus, the 9th Malaysian Food Festival celebrates the exotic and eclectic flavors of Malaysia, offering locals and international travelers a collection of distinctive dining experiences that reflect the country’s vibrant food culture.

Lovers of Malaysian food were spoiled for choice by the festival’s all-you-can-eat buffet of authentic delights. A number of renowned chefs from Malaysia are on hand to showcase their culinary skills alongside eight hawker-style live stations cooking up traditional delicacies such as Grilled Stingray Fish, Malaysian Char Siu, Fried Shrimp with Butter and Oatmeal, and many more. There is also an irresistible selection of signature Malaysian street food to tantalize guests’ taste buds, including fried oyster omelet, Char Kway Teow, Laksa, Hokkien Prawn noodle soup, Malaysian Satay, Nasi Lemak, chicken wings, Roti and Bak Kut Teh.

For fans of Malaysia’s national fruit, however, the star attraction was the premium durian platters and desserts, with more than six types of top-quality durian hand-picked by Durian Master Chuah Teoh Yak and flown in from his renowned farm in Malaysia. Guests can also purchase fresh durians to enjoy at home.

In addition, there was a tropical fruit zone featuring a tempting array of freshly imported fruit, and a selection of signature Malaysian beverages and special summer drinks to help guests keep cool and refreshed as they explore Malaysia’s diverse and colorful food culture with friends and family.
