Macao celebrates 25 years with grand international travel expo

Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo 2024 set for April 26-28, showcases vast growth in tourism with innovative features.

MACAO, CHINA – In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR), the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and the Macau Travel Agency Association announced the 12th edition of the Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo (MITE). Scheduled to take place from April 26 to 28, 2024, at the Cotai Expo of the Venetian Macao, this year’s expo is set to be the largest and most dynamic yet, under the theme “Meet at MITE: Discovery, Networking, Interaction!”

Expanded Scale and Enhanced Business Opportunities

This year, MITE expanded to cover 30,000 square meters across three halls, significantly larger than in previous years. The expo will not only extend its daily operating hours but also introduce seven major highlights that promise to enrich the experience for all attendees. These features aim to blend tourism with other key sectors, fostering new business opportunities and partnerships.

Key Highlights of the 12th MITE
  1. Gastronomy Pavilion and The Cellar: Celebrating the 25th anniversary with special offerings, this pavilion will showcase the evolution of the tourism industry over the past 25 years through innovative VR and AI technologies.
  2. “1+4 Pavilion” and “New Media Matrix”: These platforms will support the continuous development of Macao’s four key industries, utilizing new media to extend exhibitors’ reach.
  3. One Exhibition, Two Cities: Promoting new tourism developments in Macao and Hengqin, this feature will include the Macao–Hengqin Camping Festival and an industry salon.
  4. Belt and Road Products Pavilion: A new addition this year, providing a platform to display and sell unique products from countries along the Belt and Road.
  5. Quality, Volume & Yield Enhancement: This approach will expand the exhibition area and number of booths, catering to diverse market demands with a focus on local tourism products.
  6. Themed Pavilion of Cultural Museums and Educational Tourism: This pavilion taps into the educational travel market, inviting major cultural institutions to participate.
  7. Sustainable Green and Low-Carbon Travel Expo: Emphasizing green practices, the expo will engage in carbon trading activities to support environmentally friendly projects.

With over 600 exhibitors and about 500 buyers already registered, and more than 1,300 booths set up, MITE 2024 invites global tourism and related industry participants to explore the rich cultural heritage and vibrant energy of Macao. The expo will also feature over 40 product and destination presentation sessions, forums, and special activities tailored to provide the latest in tourism developments.
