HK Express inaugurates a route to Beijing Daxing, enhancing travel options and fostering links between major Chinese and Hong Kong regions.
HONG KONG – HK Express announced the inauguration of a new route between Hong Kong and Beijing Daxing International Airport, creating more choices for travellers between the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong, and fostering an important link between the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei city cluster and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
“With the advancement of China’s Belt and Road Initiative and the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, HK Express is optimistic about the country’s future economic development,” said Jeanette Mao, HK Express CEO, speaking at the inaugural ceremony at Daxing International Airport. “Hong Kong’s international aviation hub will continue to provide an interconnecting network between Hong Kong, Chinese Mainland, including other cities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, as well as the rest of the world. It plays a key role in the overall development of Hong Kong and the country.”
“The launch of the new route is the first step in the growth of HK Express’ network in the Chinese Mainland,” Ms Mao said. “HK Express will continue to leverage Hong Kong’s unique advantages as an international aviation hub and actively strengthen our ties with China. We will continue to contribute to the country’s high-standard opening-up and high-quality economic development, while at the same time provide travellers with top-notch services that are affordable, safe and efficient, enabling them to ‘Gotta Go’ on their own terms!”
HK Express is also capitalising on the development opportunities in the Greater Bay Area. Since the beginning of 2023, the number of passengers travelling on Hong Kong Express Airways from the Greater Bay Area has tripled, and as of September 2023, more than 100,000 passengers are travelling each month.
With the commencement of the new route, HK Express also kickstarted the inaugural flight by inviting on board 40 teachers and primary school students from The Lam’s Foundation, as well as about 60 principals and teachers led by The Hong Kong Federation of Education Workers. They flew to Beijing for a study tour to enhance their understanding of Chinese Mainland.
Beijing Daxing Airport, located on the border between Beijing, Langfang and Hebei Province, is the second international airport in Beijing, established after Beijing Capital International Airport. It currently has four runways and serves as an important aviation hub connecting Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei. The new flight route will create more opportunities for cross-border exchange
and exploration of Chinese cultural attractions such as Tiananmen Square, the Great Wall and the Forbidden City.
