The custom version of the classic My Sydney Detour offers QT Sydney guests a Sydneysider experience from the hotel to the streets. Each tailor-made tour provides a platform for exploring the fabric of the community and a peek inside the inner workings of the much-loved Australian city. 

 

The experience begins at QT Sydney, set within the heritage-listed Gowings department store and State Theatre in the heart of the city, for a comprehensive historical tour of the hotel itself. A classic 1964 EH Holden Premier will then greet guests at the door for a ride through the city’s backstreets, bypassing the tired tourist spots to showcase the art, design, architecture, music, and food that stir Sydney’s soul. “In creating a tour for a unique Sydney hotel, I allowed myself to be influenced by the originality of QT and pushed the boundaries of the ordinary,” explains Richard Graham, founder of My Sydney Detour. 

  

For a hotel that both captures the zeitgeist of modern day Sydney while celebrating the heritage of the city’s cultural foundations, a partnership with the city’s most fêted cultural landmark is a clear-cut choice. Over the next 12 months, QT and the Sydney Opera House will present one-off, money-can’t-buy benefits to guests as well as collaborate on a series of bespoke experiences. The first of which coincides with Vivid LIVE—the Sydney Opera House’s annual celebration of contemporary music on the nation’s most famous stage. The QT and Sydney Opera House VIP experience includes exclusive backstage access and a tour, followed by cocktails in Vivid LIVE’s Deep Purple Pool Hall, which boasts views over the illuminated Opera House sails and the Vivid Sydney installations across the harbor. The experience is then topped off with a stay at QT Sydney.
