Online Health & Safety Checklist is a new platform that creates an efficient solution for the collection and storage of health & safety information of supplier properties and products required by European and UK travel wholesalers.
In a move that will streamline administration requirements for the Australian inbound tourism industry, the Australian Tourism Export Council (ATEC) released on June 7 its Online Health & Safety Checklist, which will provide a one-stop information point for the collection of business H&S information for suppliers and wholesalers.
“This initiative has been developed to create an efficient solution for the collection and storage of health & safety information of supplier properties and products required by European and UK travel wholesalers,” ATEC Managing Director, Peter Shelley said.
“European Union legislation now requires all European travel wholesalers ensure their suppliers participate in travel programs which have implemented satisfactory health and safety standards.”
“The current process for collecting this information is often paper based, inefficient and time consuming with many wholesalers requesting this information from the same travel suppliers separately.”
“This solution will enable Australian travel suppliers to complete the information once, online, with the results available for all participating Inbound Tour Operators (ITO) and their travel wholesaler clients in the UK and Europe.”
Mr Shelley said removing duplication and utilising online efficiencies was an important way ATEC was working to support the Australian export tourism industry to grow and be more competitive.
Key benefits of the ATEC Online Health & Safety Checklist include:
– Suppliers can now complete a comprehensive health & safety checklist online
– Suppliers only need to complete the information once and this information can then be accessed by a number of participating wholesalers and inbound tour operators
– Travel buyers (International wholesalers and Australian based ITOs) have convenient, online access to an up-to-date list of travel suppliers who have completed checklists
– The Checklist facilitates informed decision making when deciding which suppliers to include in touring programs offered to their UK & European travellers.
ITO’s representing European, Uk & US wholesalers will be inviting travel suppliers to complete the online Health & Safety Checklist as part of this year’s request for 2017 rates.
