General Manager of The Lakes Cairns Resort and Spa, Mark Hodge is pleased to announce the appointment of Rosie Douglas in the newly created position, Director of Sales and Marketing.
Rosie has been welcomed into the award-winning resort’s management team at a particularly vibrant and exciting phase following its official opening earlier this year.
After a brief hiatus from tourism when she co ordinated the Cairns Amateurs Spring racing carnival for a period of three years, Rose joins The Lakes with extensive sales and marketing experience gained at the coal face of Tropical North Queensland’s hospitality industry.
Previous roles include Director of Sales and Marketing for Cairns’ five-star hotel, Radisson Plaza at the Pier (now Shangri-La) and their Port Douglas property, Radisson Treetops. Prior to that Rosie was part of the “opening” management team for Cairns Convention Centre.
Rosie says she looks forward to the challenges ahead in representing one Cairns most innovative accommodation products that has already captured the attention of Australian and overseas markets.
“One of my major objectives will be to continue building the great relationships already established with domestic, UK and US markets and of course, all the Japanese long stay and business groups.”
Rosie will be supported in her new role by Sales Manager, Glenn Fawcett whose promotion from Sales Executive. This announcement co incides with Rosie’s appointment and dove tails with re-structuring of the sales and marketing team to reflect increased business now that the resort is completely finished and fully operational.
The Lakes Cairns Resort and Spa has been recognized by Queensland’s building industry as Australia’s premium resort and outdoor complex. Glencorp, a division of Glenwood Homes Pty Ltd was awarded Australia`s Outdoor Project of the Year for The Lakes Cairns Resort & Spa at the national awards held in Brisbane recently. This is the first time the award has been won by a north Queensland building company.
