The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has planned to promote the country as a tourism destination among international sportsmen to draw in hard cash as the group of tourists are loaded.
Mr. Suraphon Svetasreni, the TAT`s Deputy Governor Public Relations, said that TAT would promote the country as a venue for international sport competitions which would bring both sport players and spectators to the country.
On top of that, sport games, especially major events, would make Thailand known internationally and that is why the government has established the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, he said.
He said the ongoing international sport competition which TAT has involved is the World Under-19s Women`s Football Championship.
We have sponsored various events recently, namely the Phuket Tri-sports Event, the International Long-tailed Boat Racing, the International Golf Tournament, and Thailand Tennis Tournament. Every time we host a big sport event, there will be no less than 10,000 people attending, he disclosed.
International sport events are the best stage to promote Thailand as beautiful tourist destination among world travelers and Thailand has got facilities to accommodate sport events and sportsmen , said the TAT`s deputy governor.
