Changi Airport`s passenger traffic in first 10 months on par with 2003’s full-year figure

Changi Airport hosted some 24.68 million passengers between January and October this year. This is an increase of 26.2 per cent over the same period last year, when SARS affected air travel demand in the region. For the whole of last year, passenger volume at Changi Airport was 24.67 million.

Compared with the January – October 2002 statistics, passenger volume at Changi Airport in the first ten months of this year is 3.4 per cent higher.

Looking at October 2004 specifically, about 2.56 million passengers passed through Changi Airport, versus last October’s 2.30 million, registering a positive growth of 11.4 per cent. October 2004’s passenger volume is also 6.8 per cent stronger than the number recorded in October 2002, when Changi Airport handled almost 2.40 million passengers.

Air cargo volume continued to rise steadily. For October 2004, air freight volume at Changi Airport reached a record 161,287 tonnes. This is 7.1 per cent more than last October’s 150,641 tonnes, and 9.5 per cent stronger than October 2002’s 147,325 tonnes.

Between January and October 2004, 1.47 million tonnes of air cargo were moved through Changi Airport, which is 11 per cent more compared to the same period last year, and 8.6 per cent more over 2002’s.
