South Korea and Iran have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on promotion of tourism and cultural ties, South Korea’s Culture Ministry said Tuesday. According to the ministry, the two countries will seek stronger tourism cooperation and push for the establishment of tourist offices in each other’s country. The two sides will also boost exchanges in tourism and journalism. The MOU was signed by South Korean Culture Minister Yu In-chon and his Iranian counterpart Isfandiar Rahim Mashaee.

Mashaee, the Iranian vice president and head of Iran’s cultural heritage and tourism organization, arrived in Seoul on Monday to attend the third round of the UN World Tourism Organization’s forum on climate change.
