Today’s heightened security climate is making its impact on businesses, venue owners and managers. Even more so for popular venues like Singapore Expo that upholds the responsibility of public safety on a day to day basis as she hosts over 6,000,000 people annually.
The large number of trade exhibitions, corporate meetings, lifestyle, religious and retail events and the unique requirements like expected attendance, type and design of booths and duration of event present a dynamic landscape that compels the centre to develop a viable plan to assure the public the safety of their persons.
Several months have passed when Singapore went full gear to face the worst of the H1N1 pandemic. Commercial buildings, hotels, public venues and exhibition centres heightened precautionary measures to reduce risk of contamination. The ever present danger and damages by terrorist threats and acts have also called these venues to action.
At Singapore Expo, plans are drawn, reviewed and re-drawn to ensure public safety and that security takes priority at all times. Education, re-education and training have become part of the daily rigour of work. Key personnel are required to excel at managing safety equipment and paraphernalia. Furthermore, safety and security are some of most important factors of business and service at Singapore Expo.
In light of these times, the appointment of a credible security management company is essential in the overall service standards at Singapore Expo. AETOS Security Agency was recently appointed to manage the day to day security operations of the centre, fresh from its successful operations at the Youth Olympics Games (YOG).
Working in collaboration with the Singapore Police Force (SPF) and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), Singapore Expo developed and consistently upgrade its security protocols to ensure readiness to cope with the dynamic and challenging security landscape. For its efforts, Singapore Expo will be accepting the National Safety and Security Watch Group Award in August 2009. This annual award is given to commercial building owners and managers who contribute to building robust security protocols to cope with the rapidly changing security climate in the region.
