Sabre to deliver new traveler security capabilities with eTravel technologies agreement

Sabre Travel Network has signed a licensing agreement with e-Travel Technologies to use its security related content in Sabre’s Traveler Security product, giving Sabre agencies and corporations a real-time traveler tracking capability with integrated risk information specific to the traveler’s itinerary.

With the new capability, agents will be able to counsel customers on the risk associated with traveling to certain locations, provide better customer service during travel disruptions and proactively manage traveler risk should a crisis situation occur.

Part of Sabre Red, Sabre’s Traveler Security will offer these additional capabilities to help agents provide great customer service:

  • Email alerts and daily risk briefings on worldwide events such as acts of terrorism, civil unrest and transportation or weather disruptions
  • Ability to directly research the risk of specific destinations
  • Reports highlighting travelers with itineraries that include countries with elevated risk levels
  • World risk map and scrolling list of current alerts.

“Travel agents need access to accurate, real-time information on issues that may disrupt a customer’s trip or create a security risk for travelers. By monitoring events around the globe and sending alerts directly to agents, Sabre’s Traveler Security allows agents to take the necessary steps to best serve their customers traveling in areas involving elevated risks or in the case of an event that disrupts travel in a given region,” said Chris Kroeger, senior vice president of Marketing for Sabre Travel Network.

Agents will be able to cover more “duty of care” services by providing risk-related information pre-trip, including which destinations are considered risky and why. With the security alerts, agents can provide real time information to their customers and, in the event of a situation, take steps to quickly notify travelers.

Sabre’s Traveler Security capabilities not only address traveler safety, but will also help agents provide better customer service during travel disruptions such as airline and rail work stoppages, weather, and scenarios like last year’s ash cloud.

The agreement also named e-Travel Technologies as a Sabre Authorized Developer.

Don Churchill, president of e-Travel Technologies Inc, said, “We are extremely pleased to work with Sabre to provide better traveler security capabilities to their customers. We are confident that our content will make a significant contribution to the value proposition of Sabre Traveler Security, and becoming a Sabre Authorized Developer increases our opportunity to provide further functionality and services in the future.”
