PATA’s new TIGA platform gets ‘cat city’ launch

The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) launches Phase 1 of its new TIGA online intelligence service. Developed jointly with Creative Advances Technology (CAT), TIGA (Travel Intelligence Graphic Architecture) offers PATA members and industry subscribers a new platform for obtaining a wealth of analysis, forecasts and statistics via the PATA website. The launch coincides with the opening of the PATA annual meeting and tourism seminar in Kuching (cat city), Sarawak – hosted by Tourism Malaysia.

TIGA will, when fully operational, offer a broad spectrum of information relevant to travel and tourism industry professionals covering international arrivals data, forecasts, flight frequencies and airline seat availability, hotel occupancy and revenue statistics, broad economic data and much more. Users will be able to access TIGA at three levels:

1. Basic – available to anyone
2. Advanced – available to registered users that are PATA members
3. Premium – available to registered users that pay a subscription

TIGA Phase 2 is scheduled for launch at the PATA Travel Mart in September 2010. Phase 3 goes live in the first half of 2011. PATA CEO Greg Duffell said, “Our new Travel Intelligence Graphic Architecture is an interactive tool that enables more informed decision-making by travel and tourism professionals. It’s an integral part of our new-look website and reflects our determination to add value to our very broad range of membership benefits.

TIGA has emerged from a strategic partnership forged between PATA and CAT to provide innovative technology support. Through this partnership CAT, a leading provider of online tourism solutions, has extended its Standard Online Tourism Architecture (SOTA) technology to create the Travel Intelligence Graphic Architecture (platform. The partnership seeks to foster the growth of innovative tourism through technology and collaboration.”

Rohizam Md Yusoff, CEO of CAT, said, “The tourism industry continues to be fast-growing and travel players have to look for ways to be better equipped and customise their tourism business experience. TIGA provides the intelligent information with SOTA technology and we are delighted to see how this technology may now give real value to tourism industry players by having pertinent information at their finger tips 24 hours a day.”
