Jet Airways lauches new daily Hyderabad-Dubai flight

Jet Airways, India’s premier international airline, will launch a new daily flight on the Hyderabad-Dubai sector, aboard a state-of-the-art Boeing 737-800 aircraft, effective August 16, 2009. The new Hyderabad-Dubai flight will be Jet Airways’ first international service from Hyderabad, and its second daily service to Dubai from South India. The airline currently flies twice daily to Dubai from Mumbai, and daily from Delhi and Chennai.

Effective August 16, 2009 to October 24, 2009, flight 9W 550 will depart Hyderabad at 0935 hrs, arriving in Dubai at 1150 hrs. Flight 9W 549 will then depart Dubai at 1250 hrs, arriving in Hyderabad at 1805 hrs.

Effective October 25, 2009 to March 27, 2010, flight 9W 550 will depart Hyderabad at 0935 hrs, arriving in Dubai at 1210 hrs. Flight 9W 549 will then depart Dubai at 1310 hrs, arriving in Hyderabad at 1805 hrs.

Hyderabad, or the ‘City of Pearls’ is the administrative, financial and economic capital of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. A delightful mix of old-world charm and modernity, Hyderabad has, in recent years, grown to become one of the coutnry’s leading IT and biotechnology hubs.

In keeping with Hyderabad’s rising prominence as an aviation and business hub on the global stage, the city is also home to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), Hyderabad, the first public-private partnership in the Indian airport infrastructure sector. Equipped with one of the country’s longest runways and state-of-the-art passenger, air traffic control and cargo infrastructure, RGIA is designed to eventually handle over 40 million passengers and 1 million metric tonnes of cargo.

According to Mr. Sudheer Raghavan, Chief Commercial Officer, Jet Airways, “With the growing popularity of Dubai as a leading business and leisure destination, there has been an increasing demand for enhanced air connectivity to the Gulf from Southern India. We are confident that the new service from Hyderabad will be well-appreciated by travellers and will complement our existing services from India.”

Mr. P.Sripathy, Chief Executive Officer, said on the occasion, “With more than 500, 000 Andhraites in United Arab Emirates, this new service will enhance the connectivity between Dubai and Hyderabad. Jet Airways plays an important role in promoting tourism and Hyderabad has always been a favourite holiday destination for the UAE residents. Also, Hyderabad is one of Asia’s largest IT hubs and this new service will offer better options for corporate and commercial travel”.

With the introduction of this new Hyderabad – Dubai service, Jet Airways will fly to eight destinations in the Gulf, including Kuwait, Bahrain, Muscat, Doha, Abu Dhabi, Jeddah, Riyadh and Dubai from several Indian cities.
