IHG has signed its third InterContinental Hotels & Resorts property in Vietnam which is scheduled to open by mid-2009 as the first international luxury beachfront resort in the area. InterContinental Danang Resort will be situated on the Son Tra Peninsula in Danang.
The 200-room property will be developed by Terra Joint Stock Co. and will join IHG’s collection of 148 InterContinental Hotels & Resorts properties worldwide. It will also expand IHG’s Asia Pacific portfolio of operating and upcoming luxury resorts in Indonesia, Thailand, China, Japan and French Polynesia.
Danang is a major port city and economic hub in central Vietnam, strategically located to the south of Hanoi and north of Ho Chi Minh City. As one of Vietnam’s largest cities, Danang currently attracts one million visitors annually, and expects to double its annual visitor arrival numbers by 2010.
IHG’s first InterContinental hotel in Vietnam, InterContinental Hanoi Westlake, will open later this year. A second InterContinental property in Ho Chi Minh City is scheduled to open in 2009.
