EVA and RIMOWA join forces on cutting-edge luggage e-Tags

New cutting-edge system saves passengers time and speeds baggage check-in.

TAIPEI, Taiwan – EVA Air added RIMOWA’s cutting-edge electronic tags as a baggage check-in service on December 8, 2016, becoming the first airline in Asia and the second worldwide to officially offer the new procedure. The airline now makes baggage check-in as easy as one, two, three for passengers using the EVA Air Mobile App and Rimowa electronic tag luggage. The RIMOWA e-tag baggage check-in service is available for iOS operating systems now and will be ready for Androids soon.

Initially, EVA is offering the new e-tag baggage check-in service to passengers outbound from San Francisco (SFO), Seattle (SEA), Houston (IAH), New York (JFK), Vancouver (YVR), Toronto (YYZ), Paris (CDG), Vienna (VIE), Tokyo (HND) and for all international departures from EVA’s home base at Taoyuan International Airport except those bound for London due to government regulations. The airline will add more airports in the near future.

The RIMOWA electronic tag is a revolutionary, ecofriendly, and time-saving travel concept. Passengers with RIMOWA e-tag luggage can use the EVA Mobile App to check in their bags from wherever they are without waiting in line, at home, in a cab, at the gym, in the office or just about anywhere on the globe. With just one click, they can connect the App to the luggage and confirm the e-tag information in the electronic panel on the side of the bag. After the e-tag check-in process has been completed, passengers simply drop their luggage at the designated “online check-in counter” at the airport.

To verify stability of the system, gain feedback and better optimize the service for passengers, EVA conducted a series of strict field tests with the RIMOWA e-tag luggage check-in process before officially introducing it.
