The Hon. Richard Ricky O. Skerritt Minister of State in the St. Kitts & Nevis Ministry of Tourism, Sports & Culture will be on the St Kitts Stand CA3010. St Kitts and Nevis will be hosting 6 International one day matches during the 2007 World Cup Cricket and Minister Skerritt as well as being a keen cricketer was the first full time Manager of the West Indies Cricket team prior to his ministerial appointment.

The 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup, which will take place for the first time ever in the West Indies. St. Kitts was one of the eight successful venues chosen from a total of twelve destinations competing to host the event.

Esther Smith, St. Kitts UK Director of Tourism will be on the stand and confirms that was delighted; The selection of St. Kitts as a new international cricket venue has already increased awareness of the country among the international sporting community. The tournament itself is likely to bring around 4000 visitors to the island and TV coverage will reach an audience of 2 billion people in some 70 countries.

St Kitts will also benefit from a vast improvement in cricket facilities, which will help attract players and improve standards of play, as well as giving St. Kitts the ability to attract new sponsorship for the game. The bid had the support of all political parties and demonstrated the effectiveness of the public and private sectors working closely together. The appointment of St. Kitts as a venue will also bring new career opportunities for the community, whose leadership and management skills will be sought by the organising committee responsible for the management of the event in St. Kitts.
