Visit Maldives launches global advertising campaign with BBC for Visit Maldives Year 2016

The advertising campaign aims to position the Maldives as a world-class destination and showcase the islands' diversified tourism product, while targeting an affluent international audience across Europe and Asia Pacific.

Maldives Marketing and PR Corporation (MMPRC) have kick-started the Visit Maldives Year 2016 activities with the launch of a global advertising campaign in partnership with the BBC, in order to showcase the destination’s unique selling points and increase visitation during 2016.
 
The BBC campaign will run until 31 October 2015, highlighting the unique aspects of the Maldives under the destination’s tag line ‘The Sunny Side of Life’ in a new 30 second commercial and 4×15 second teasers. In addition to BBC’s TV channel, the advertisement will also run on www.bbc.com’s ‘Video on Demand’ section reaching a significant target audience of 1,020,400 users. The advertising campaign aims to position the Maldives as a world-class destination and showcase the islands’ diversified tourism product, while targeting an affluent international audience across Europe and Asia Pacific.
 
Mr Mohamed Adam, Deputy Managing Director of Maldives Marketing and PR Corporation said, “This year, as part of the Visit Maldives Year 2016, we have a number of new and exciting developments taking place in the Maldives, including this partnership with the BBC. This global advertising campaign will raise the country’s profile as a leading luxury destination and highlight the variety of activities available on our islands. Having already welcomed an increase in visitor arrivals from the UK, including a 4% increase in UK tourists from January to July compared to the same period in 2014, we are looking forward to inspiring UK holidaymakers and welcoming them to experience ‘The Sunny Side of Life’.
