Tourism Malaysia aims to bolster regional partnerships and showcase its attractions at the Tehran International Tourism Exhibition, highlighting its commitment to the Iranian market and visa-free access for travelers.

Tourism Malaysia made its fifteenth consecutive appearance at the Tehran International Tourism Exhibition (TITEX), which took place from 12 to 15 February 2024. With a strategic focus on elevating tourism promotion initiatives, the engagement aimed to foster meaningful business partnerships and collaborations across the region.

Throughout the four-day exhibition, Tourism Malaysia engaged in high-level networking sessions with Iranian travel experts, professionals, and industry players from the tourism and hospitality sectors. These interactions offered valuable insights into the current landscape of Malaysia’s dynamic tourism industry.

Tourism Malaysia showcased its presence through a dedicated pavilion featuring seven booths hosting esteemed partners comprising tour operators, hotels/resorts, and a prominent airline such as BetterBooking Travel and Tour Sdn. Bhd., Future Group Tour & Travel Sdn. Bhd., Gulliver Tours and Travel Sdn. Bhd., Pearl Island Holiday Travel Agency, Toranj Tour & Travel Sdn. Bhd., Marriott Hotels, IOI Resort City, Putrajaya, and Air Arabia.

The exhibition spotlighted exciting packages and the latest attractions and destinations, such as Kuala Lumpur, Genting Highlands, and Penang, catering to diverse market segments, including shopping, theme parks, and family fun activities.

Dato’ Dr. Ammar Abd. Ghapar, Director-General of Tourism Malaysia, remarked, “Malaysia was currently among the few countries offering visa-free stays not exceeding 14 days for Iranian passport holders. Iran remained one of Malaysia’s top international tourist-generating markets in the Middle East, with arrivals totaling 13,506 from January to September 2023.”

Building upon the success of the previous year’s joint destination seminar to Isfahan and Shiraz in August 2023, supported by Air Arabia, Malaysia affirmed its standing as one of the top-of-mind travel destinations for Iranians in gearing up for Visit Malaysia Year 2026.

Iranian travelers could conveniently access Malaysia from various cities, including Tehran, Mashhad, Isfahan, Tabriz, and Shiraz, utilizing renowned carriers such as Qatar Airways, Emirates, Etihad Airways, and Air Arabia.
