Enhancement of U.S./China relations in exhibitions and events industry

IAEE and CCPIT Chengdu Sub-Council announce new strategic cooperation agreement to enhance U.S./China relations in exhibitions and events industry.

DALLAS – In an effort to expand collaborations in China, the International Association of Exhibitions and Events™ (IAEE) has announced a new cooperation agreement with the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Chengdu Sub-council signed in China on 10 January at the annual CEFCO event held in Wuxi, China. The strategic agreement encourages participation in exhibitions and events in Chengdu and fosters continued goodwill throughout China.

“IAEE is the largest international association representing the exhibitions and events industry in the world, with more than 8,000 members. The quality, Industry resources and effective international channels of IAEE will help Chengdu improve international cooperation and the developmental level of exhibition and event industry,” says Mr. Mu Tao, chairman of the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Chengdu Sub-council and director of the Chengdu Municipal Bureau of Exposition.

“IAEE is excited to enhance our agreement with CCPIT Chengdu Sub-council and to continue to support the development of trade and commerce between China and our members. This agreement serves to bring buyers and sellers face-to-face to conduct business around the world and contribute to global commerce and positive relations throughout China,” says IAEE President and CEO David DuBois, CMP, CAE, FASAE, CTA.

As part of the agreement, CCPIT Chengdu Sub-council and IAEE will communicate the economic benefits of the exhibition industry in each community as well as disseminate event opportunities for industry professionals to attend. Additionally, both organizations will jointly organize exhibitions, conferences and seminars for exhibition organizers as well as organize and promote specific programs, while providing assistance with country-specific issues. IAEE will continue to offer the Certified in Exhibition Management (CEM) Learning Program solely through CCPIT and build upon the more than 700 professionals who have earned the designation. IAEE will serve as an ambassador to the U.S. government on behalf of Chinese attendees and exhibitors seeking visas to attend U.S.-based events, and likewise, CCPIT Chengdu Sub-council will support IAEE’s programs by communicating the value of IAEE’s member benefits and education to industry professionals in China.

IAEE and CCPIT Chengdu will collaborate to create a platform for information exchange, research distribution, statistical analysis and industry data share to improve the profile of the exhibitions and events industry in the general marketplace.
