The 24th annual KOREA MICE EXPO successfully concluded, attracting over 3,500 professionals and fostering global MICE industry collaborations.

The KOREA MICE EXPO 2023, hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, organized by the Korea MICE Association and the Incheon Tourism Organization, and sponsored by Incheon Metropolitan City and the Korea Tourism Organization, has concluded successfully at Songdo Convensia.

The opening ceremony was attended by over 300 local and international MICE industry leaders and dignitaries including Danny Hyundae Shin, Chairman of the Korea MICE Association, Hyeon Baig, CEO of the Incheon Tourism Organization, Haengsook Lee, Deputy Mayor for Culture & Welfare Affairs of Incheon Metropolitan City, and Jangsil Kim, President & CEO of the Korea Tourism Organization. Korea’s Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Inchon Yu along with the National Assembly’s Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee representatives Ihkpyo Hong, Hyunjin Bae, and Hojeong Ryu conveyed their messages through a congratulatory video.

Now in its 24th year, ‘KOREA MICE EXPO’ is the premier B2B expo in the Korean MICE industry. This year, as the expo shifts to a private sector-led initiative supported by the public sector, there has been a notable increase in participation among organizations and companies, with over 3,500 MICE professionals in attendance. The exhibition comprised 450 booths representing 265 companies, mainly local tourism organizations. The event also drew over 150 local and international buyers from 24 countries.

The ‘KOREA MICE EXPO’ serves as a platform for discussions not only focused on business but also on the entire MICE industry. This year, 14 sessions were conducted over two days, all centered on the theme ‘Towards a Future that Embraces Diversity and Expansion’. The sessions delved into subtopics such as global trends, marketing strategies, content, and policies through lectures, discussions, and workshops, catering to a diverse range of participants. In addition, an integrated academic conference jointly hosted by prominent associations in the Korean MICE industry — namely, the Korea Association of Trade Exhibition Studies, the Korea MICE Tourism Society, and the Academic Society of Business Event & Convention, were held in conjunction with the main event.

KME2023 Attendees interacted with one another and explored business opportunities through programs such as business consultations, sessions covering various topics, and networking dinners for two days. In addition, international buyers experienced Korea’s MICE cities firsthand before and after the expo. International buyers visited Incheon and Incheon, Daegu, Gyeongju, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam.

The Chairman of the Korea MICE Association, Danny Hyundae Shin expressed, “KOREA MICE EXPO is a unique business platform fostering the sustainable growth of Korea’s MICE industry,” and emphasized, “Starting with this year, we will strengthen our efforts to communicate and collaborate with a more diverse range of organizations to further develop KME as a global MICE platform.”
