IHG Hotels & Resorts launches Run For Good charity event in Thailand

Proceeds will go to Ramathibodi Foundation to help impoverished patients.

BANGKOK, THAILAND – IHG Hotels & Resorts is launching its inaugural IHG Run For Good charity fun run this September with proceeds going to the Ramathibodi Foundation to support impoverished patients.

The run is held in conjunction with IHG’s Giving for Good month, an entire month where IHG colleagues around the world support and give back to the communities in which they live and work.

The event will be held on Sunday, 10 September at the Vachirabenjatas Park, between 5am – 8am, with entry fees priced at THB 650 for a 9 kilometre run and THB 600 for the shorter 4km course.

The 9km classification will have a competitive element with runners split into four categories – men 40 years old and above, women 40 and above, men below 40 and women below 40. The top three finishers in each category will win a trophy and a complimentary stay voucher at one of the 34 IHG hotels in Thailand, across its portfolio of fantastic brands including Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas, InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, Vignette Collection, Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts, Hotel Indigo, Holiday Inn Hotels & Resorts, Holiday Inn Express and Staybridge Suites.

All participants will receive a T-shirt, bag and finisher’s medal, and there will be some exciting lucky draw prizes up for grabs. After the race, they can savour some delicious gourmet food whipped up by IHG chefs, and enjoy a day out at Suan Rot Fai – one of the biggest parks in Bangkok in which they can ride bikes, enjoy the Bangkok Butterfly Garden and Insectarium, or go shopping and eat at nearby Chatuchak Weekend Market.

Leading this initiative on behalf of IHG Thailand is Patrick Both, IHG Area General Manager, Luxury & Lifestyle, Thailand: “I’m very excited to launch IHG Run for Good, our first ever charity fun run, through which we’re bringing together our colleagues, partners and customers to make a positive impact on those around us. The Ramathibodi Foundation is a really great cause, and we’re proud to be helping them to support impoverished patients. Exercising and doing good at the same time – what could be better!”

Punsiree Kunakornpaiboonsiri, Managing Director, Ramathibodi Foundation said: “Ramathibodi Foundation was established more than 50 years ago with a mission to be a bridge transferring happiness from givers to patients. We have been working with many generous partners like IHG over the years to give a better life to those in need and appreciate the continuous support. We are glad to be the supporting charity partner for IHG Run For Good and work closely with IHG Hotels & Resorts to promote sustainable healthcare across the country.”

Now in its sixth year, Giving for Good month is a chance for IHG colleagues to collectively make a positive contribution, give back to their communities and create meaningful change for people around the world.

Globally, IHG has more than 6,000 hotels in more than 100 countries and 345,000 colleagues representing a wide variety of nationalities, cultures, religions, abilities and backgrounds. Caring for its people, communities and planet has been at the heart of IHG’s business for many years, and through Journey To Tomorrow – it’s 10-year responsible business plan is committed to improving the lives of 30 million people around the world.
