An opulent five-star hotel designed by the fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld, combining immaculate interiors with unrivaled hospitality.

MACAU – Last night marked the grand celebration of The Karl Lagerfeld Macau where a stellar line-up of local and international A-list celebrities and guests paid tribute to the fashion legend whilst enjoying an unrivalled experience that only Macau and the exceptional hotel have to offer.

The Karl Lagerfeld Macau is the world’s only hotel tower with the interior entirely designed by the fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld. Located at Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau it is the latest property launched by SJM Resorts, S.A.

Daisy Ho, Chairman and Executive Director of SJM Holdings Limited, said, “We are extremely proud and privileged to bring The Karl Lagerfeld Macau to the city, a testament to the ultimate luxury and uniqueness of the Grand Lisboa Palace, the first integrated resort to introduce a fashion hotel concept to our city’s hospitality scene. The grand celebration was attended by officiating guests and Guests of Honour including Vice-Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference Mr. Ho Hau Wah; Mr. Cheong Weng Chon, Secretary of Administration of Justice of Macao Special Administrative Region Government; Mr. Liu Decheng, Director of Economic Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao Special Administrative Region; Mr. Hoi Lo Meng, Deputy Director of the Macau Government Tourism Office Deputy Director of the Macau Government Tourism Office; Ms. Daisy Ho, Co-Chairman of SJM Holdings Limited and Managing Director of SJM Resorts; Mr. Timothy Fok, Co-Chairman of SJM Holdings Limited; Mr Pier Paolo Righi, CEO of Karl Lagerfeld; Mr Joe Zhou, General Manager of Karl Lagerfeld Greater China, together with Academy Award Winner, Ms Michelle Yeoh.

Celebrity guests and KOL’s were dressed in red carpets looks from Karl Lagerfeld ‘Ultimate Icon’ Collection. Celebrating the designer’s legacy, the collection draws inspiration from Karl’s extensive archives.

The evening kicked off with an officiating ceremony in the opulent lobby where you are greeted by a reception wall covered with over a thousand keys forming a unique KARL Kameo artwork. Guests continued the multisensory experience at The Karl Lagerfeld with extraordinary culinary delights and a party at The Grand Pavilion where they could enjoy an exclusive performance by Korean artist BamBam and an outstanding DJ set by supermodel Park Soo-joo.

Other International guests included award-winning French singer, actress and dear friend of Karl Lagerfeld Lou Doillon; Korean artists Ji Chang-Wook and James Lee; Chinese singers and actresses Li Yi-tong and Zhou Jie-qiong; Pansy Ho, B, Josie Ho, Barney Florinda Ho, Alice Ho, Arnaldo Ho, Beatrice Ho, Mario Ho, Ian & JoJo Fok, Eric Fok, Fok Kai-man, Melissa Fok, socialites and fashionistas including Barney Cheng, GiGi Chao, Linda Fung, Vincent Tso, amongst others.

Karl Lagerfeld’s design concept for The Karl Lagerfeld Macau stemmed from a sophisticated reimagining of modern Chinoiserie fused with traditional craftsmanship, bold colors and patterns meet tailored silhouettes. Each of the 271 rooms and suites showcases influences of both classic Chinese design and contemporary Western aesthetics: custom-created headboards were inspired by auspicious Chinese coins that represent good fortune, while porcelain vases were handmade in Jingdezhen and circular room dividers were inspired by traditional Chinese moon gates. Reflecting Karl Lagerfeld’s passion for collaboration, specially commissioned furnishings include exquisite sculptures by Dutch artist Marcel Wanders and French artist Jean-Michel Othoniel, and Terzani chandeliers.
