The partnership between I-Berhad and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts stands as a significant development in Kuala Lumpur’s hospitality industry, promising to offer a blend of luxury and technological innovation while expanding the reach of both brands.

SINGAPORE, KUALA LUMPUR – I-Berhad, the developer of Malaysia’s Technology City in Shah Alam, i-City, partners with the hotel chain, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts for its RM820 million GDV luxury condominium development in Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC).

Through the partnership, the 50-storey luxury residences at Zone 1 KLCC will now be known as Wyndham Suites KLCC.

This strategic partnership promises not only luxury living at its finest but also the prestige of owning a piece of the Wyndham legacy — often linked with 5-star hospitality and guest services — to property investors.

According to Wyndham Hotels and Resorts Asia Pacific President Mr. Ooi Joon Aun, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is renowned for its “Count on Me” service culture and 5-star hospitality service, with a global portfolio of approximately 9,100 hotels spanning more than 95 countries globally ensuring world-class comfort for its guests. Its loyalty program, Wyndham Rewards, is renowned globally as the world’s most generous loyalty program and boasts over 103 million members, providing access to a diverse global clientele.

Mr Joon Aun Ooi, President of Wyndham Hotels and Resorts Asia Pacific said, “With the strong recovery of business and leisure travel across Asia Pacific, Malaysia continues to be a popular destination for business and leisure travellers. We are delighted to partner with I- Berhad for this esteemed project. This partnership will provide further growth opportunities for our portfolio of hotels by strengthening our flagship brand, Wyndham’s presence, in Malaysia.”

On sealing the partnership, I-Berhad Chairman Mr. Tan Sri Lim Kim Hong, said, “This is yet another significant leap forward for I-Berhad and we are thrilled to join hands with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts to transform Wyndham Suites KLCC. This will not only enhance the Group’s overall brand reputation and visibility, Wyndham’s vast global network will also provide a powerful platform for our RM10 billion GDV project in i-City Shah Alam, to gain greater international exposure.”

He explained that Wyndham Suites KLCC will attract families, business travellers and holidaymakers globally to Kuala Lumpur through the Wyndham Rewards ecosystem.

“Between November this year and January next year, i-City is driving the One Shah Alam, One Destination programme that aims to enable visitors to experience the best of Shah Alam within one single destination. The programme will focus on enhanced lightscapes, immersive edutainment experiences and community engagement events. The group has invested RM10 million in the lightscapes and immersive edutainment enhancements that include a 5D Immersive Winterland and a 50,000 sqft indoor digital sports arena.

“The influx of visitors to Wyndham Suites KLCC can naturally extend to i-City in Shah Alam, which is located just a 30-minute drive away through cross-promotional activities. This will leave a positive imprint on the tourism sectors of both Kuala Lumpur and Selangor,” Lim said.

He added that this will also add prestige and appeal to i-City’s developments, increasing property values and attracting a more affluent and diverse clientele to the area. Additionally, it aligns with i-City’s broader vision of creating a destination-oriented ecosystem, offering residents and visitors the opportunity to enjoy luxury living while remaining seamlessly connected to i-City’s tech-centric hub in Shah Alam. This symbiotic relationship promotes the growth and vibrancy of both locations, creating a dynamic urban experience that spans multiple areas and draws in more businesses, residents, and visitors to i-City in Shah Alam.

In an unrelated event, Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim recently visited i-City and was greeted with a roaring welcome by i-City’s employees representing diverse backgrounds. Their enthusiastic reception embodied the spirit of Malaysia Madani, symbolising not only i-City’s commitment to creating an inclusive destination rich in diversity but also demonstrating Malaysia’s strength through unity and its connection to the One Shah Alam One Destination programme.
