Langham Hospitality Group’s new Cordis hotel in Foshan’s Lingnan Tiandi offers prime tourism and business travel opportunities.

HONG KONG – Langham Hospitality Group (LHG) has opened a new hotel under its upscale Cordis Hotels & Resorts brand. Situated in the southern Chinese city of Foshan, a key urban centre in the country’s Greater Bay Area (GBA), the Cordis, Foshan, Lingnan Tiandi is set to serve as a promising destination for both tourists and business travellers thanks to its planned upgrades and prime placement in Lingnan Tiandi, a cultural and commercial hub nestled in Foshan’s centrally located Chancheng district.

The new hotel, which commenced operations at the start of the month, will be revitalised in the months that follow to soon be transformed into a vibrant social centre and tribute to its captivating surroundings. Those surroundings include everything from historic temples to trendy shops to glitzy office complexes, making the locality a veritable eclectic nexus where old meets new in picturesque harmony.

Our Cordis hotels are the hearts of their neighbourhoods, which they fully embrace through local tours, art installations and community engagements,” LHG Chief Executive Officer Bob van den Oord said. “The Lingnan Tiandi zone of Foshan’s Chancheng district is precisely the type of area where a Cordis hotel can thrive while also contributing to its local environment.”

Developed by Shui On Land, Lingnan Tiandi is home to numerous meticulously restored ancient structures. This includes a 900-year-old Song Dynasty Ancestral Temple, which regularly hosts Chinese opera performances in a nod to Foshan’s renown as the birthplace of the art form.

The area additionally comprises a collection of revitalised Cantonese mansions and other venerable village buildings, several of which have been converted into restaurants that pay homage to the region’s classic cuisine.

As for shopping options, Lingnan Tiandi is highly regarded for its vibrant street market and ultra-modern malls that attract visitors from far and wide – a fact made possible by its strong transportation credentials. These include being a 10-minute walk from Zumiao subway station and just 55 minutes by road from Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport. The neighbourhood is also within one hour’s high-speed rail journey from every major city in the GBA.

Turning to the hotel itself, the Cordis, Foshan consists of 390 rooms and suites, all of which have private balconies and are notably spacious. Sizes range from 42sqm to 58sqm for the rooms and 82sqm to 218sqm for the suites. The property also includes one- and two-bedroom service apartments.

In terms of amenities, there’s a luxurious 28-metre indoor pool on site, together with a jacuzzi and sauna facilities, a fitness centre, and a spectacular two-storey club lounge with culinary offerings for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Other food and beverage establishments include the hotel’s two restaurants, Cantonese dining den Lingnan Garden and barbecue dinner buffet bistro The Deck.

Regarding meeting facilities, the hotel currently houses a 1,266 sqm ballroom and eight multi-function rooms. It additionally features a large ceremonial hall, which has long been a hot spot for weddings and other large celebrations.

Looking ahead, the property will see many of its rooms and public areas renovated, the latter of which will include its lobby, lobby bar VIP reception area and various meeting and function facilities.
