The venue was this year selected as the winner in the latest category to have been created by NSW Wine Industry Association for best wine list by a Caterer or Function Centre.
International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney), managed by ASM Global, has been recognised in the New South Wales (NSW) Wine Industry Association 2023 NSW Sommelier’s Wine List Awards for its outstanding selection of premium local wines as curated by the venue’s Food and Beverage Manager and Sommelier, William Wilson.
Presented by Mr Clayton Barr MP, the accolade recognised ICC Sydney’s continued commitment to showcase NSW wines and the venue team’s support and knowledge of the local wine industry.
Having previously been named as the winning Sydney venue with over 40 seats, as well as the NSW Wine President’s Award for Outstanding Support of the NSW Wine Industry for William Wilson in 2022, the venue was this year selected as the winner in the latest category to have been created by NSW Wine Industry Association for best wine list by a Caterer or Function Centre.
Alongside ICC Sydney CEO and Group Director – Convention Centres, ASM Global (APAC) Geoff Donaghy and ICC Sydney Director of Culinary Services, Lynell Peck, William Wilson has been instrumental in establishing the venue’s 100% NSW wine list. His industry connections and knowledge of local wines have played a key role in the venue’s contribution to local food and beverage suppliers, which in 2018/19 resulted in A$12.2 million in direct expenditure for NSW food and beverage suppliers with ICC Sydney actively building the venue’s support of local providers since.
ICC Sydney CEO and Group Director – Convention Centres, ASM Global (APAC), Geoff Donaghy said the venue’s focus on delivering a positive impact for the state’s regional communities was a driving force behind its winning food and beverage philosophy.

The collaborative approach and strong relationships that the team has built with local wine producers has seen our NSW-focused wine list grow from strength to strength and we are proud to have offered local and international event planners and visitors an exclusively 100% NSW wine list for the past three years,” Mr Donaghy said.
Food and Beverage Manager and Sommelier, William Wilson said the quality of the wines produced in NSW was on par with the best in the country and around the world. “As passionate champions of NSW wine, it brings our ICC Sydney team great pride to have been announced as the winner of 2023 NSW Sommelier’s Wine List Awards.
