Western Australia is making a bold push to generate business tourism in the traditionally ‘soft’ months of June and July. The Perth Convention Bureau launched a national campaign at AIME promoting a range of attractive value-added offers for meeting and incentive planners.

The campaign – branded ‘WAy Ahead for value’ – is being supported by many of Perth’s leading hotels, the Perth Convention Exhibition Centre and other suppliers.

Announcing the initiative, the Bureau’s Director of Sales and Marketing, Anne Last, said WAy Ahead presented a united and strong destination campaign that offered real value for planners.

She added: “The business tourism sector in Western Australia has always had a collaborative approach to promoting the destination. We are extremely proud of the way the industry works together to ensure that we deliver as a destination in the strong belief that everyone benefits in the long run.”

“We would like the WAy Ahead campaign to have longevity and become a recognised brand which says Perth and Western Australia is a particularly attractive place to take a conference or incentive group in June and July. Ultimately, we would hope that it will become such a well recognised brand that planners will associate it with Western Australia being a great value year-round destination.”

“Further down the track we will look to undertake supporting advertising in the trade press promoting the WAy Ahead branding,” Ms Last added.

“Also, we would expect more industry members to come on board once the campaign starts generating results.”
