AIME 2005 has won the national Event of the Year Award in the Meetings & Events Australia (MEA) annual awards. AIME, the AsiaPacific Incentives & Meetings Expo, is the largest global industry event held in Australia. AIME 2005 generated an estimated US$590 million dollars in business for the region.

Accepting the award on behalf of Reed Travel Exhibitions (RTE), AIME Event Director, Rosemarie Sama said that it was an honour to accept the prestigious award.

“AIME is Australia’s biggest event for the industry and arguably the largest industry event in the Southern Hemisphere. This award is the highest recognition we can receive from our industry. It is truly deserved, and gratefully received,” Ms Sama said.

“The organisation of AIME is a huge team effort and we have one of the most dedicated teams who work extremely hard every day to make AIME the best it can possibly be,” she said.

AIME is owned by Melbourne Convention + Visitors Bureau and is organized by RTE. RTE organises 15 events worldwide, including EIBTM, ICCA Exhibition, in association with the ICCA Congress, La Cumbre, China Business & Incentive Travel Mart (CBITM) and Latin American & Caribbean Incentive & Meetings Exhibition (LACIME).

Ms Sama also thanked the industry for its ongoing support of AIME, year after year. “Without our meetings and incentives industry support, I wouldn’t be here tonight, accepting this award,” she said.

AIME 2006 will be held on 6 & 7 June at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre, Australia. AIME 2007 returns to February at the same venue.
