Tiger teturns to Adelaide

Two daily return services between Melbourne and Adelaide commencing 1st November 2012.

Tiger Airways Australia has announced its eagerly anticipated return to Adelaide with two daily return services from Melbourne Airport Tullamarine commencing in time for the summer holiday and upcoming new year festival season in South Australia.

“Tiger is thrilled to return to Adelaide,” said Tiger Airways Australia CEO, Andrew David who is travelling to Adelaide today to meet with key industry stakeholders including Adelaide Airport Ltd Managing Director Mark Young.

From 1st November this year Tiger Airways Australia will fly up to two daily return services providing over 5,000 visitor seats weekly through Adelaide Airport.

“Tiger Airways is continuing with its Australian expansion as planned and our return to Adelaide is an important milestone on this journey.

“We know our great value airfares stimulate domestic air travel and provide healthy competition. Tiger Airways is proud to connect all Australians with such a world class destination,” said Mr. David who added that great value airfares along with Tiger’s ongoing operational excellence and commitment to on time performance will make for a compelling product that will be available well in advance of Adelaide’s renowned festival season.

Adelaide Airport Ltd Managing Director, Mark Young, welcomed the return of Tiger Airways. “Tiger’s return provides a greater choice of flights for our customers.  We anticipate it will create healthy competition, particularly in the low cost carrier market, which will benefit passengers flying to and from Adelaide,” Mr Young said.

“It reflects the ongoing growth of Adelaide Airport’s business across our domestic and international sectors, as well as confidence in the strength of the South Australian economy.”

Mr. David also used today’s announcement to reiterate that the airline intends to unveil further network expansion plans in the future. “We are a volume based business and fly where consumer demand dictates,” said Mr. David. “Therefore as we continue to talk to our tourism and airport partners, Tiger is also today launching an online customer polling system to help the business decide the likely destinations we will fly to next.”
