Tiger Airways announces fares on sale now between Melbourne and Brisbane

Tiger Airways announces the resumption of services on the popular Melbourne – Brisbane route with fares going on sale for travel commencing from 18 August 2011.

The airline is resuming Australian domestic services gradually. Last week, the airline commenced with three daily return services between Melbourne and Sydney (or six flights daily). Today the airline is flying four daily return services between Melbourne and Sydney (eight flights per day). From this Thursday the airline will fly up to five daily return services (or 10 flights in total) between Melbourne and Sydney and will add one daily return service between Melbourne and Brisbane initially, soon adding another daily return service between Melbourne and Brisbane to fly two daily return services to and from Brisbane, from 23 August 2011.

Tiger Airways is earmarking a return to a number of other popular destinations soon and will announce further network developments in due course.

Tiger Airways Head of Marketing and Communications, Vanessa Regan, says “Tiger’s got off to a good start given the airline’s intention to fly the popular routes and to improve its overall reliability.

“Since resuming Australian domestic services last Friday (12 August 2011) the airline has been pleased with solid bookings and the achievement of 100% on time performance for all departures and all arrivals to date. We know Australians love our low fares. In just over three years of operation Tiger has carried over seven million domestic passengers, so we know that Australians appreciate great value. We are now returning to Australian skies with what we believe is an improved product that is safe, affordable and more reliable for the long term.

“Given many Tiger passengers know to book early to snap up the lowest fares, forward bookings are gaining momentum, especially on weekends and in peak travel periods,”
she says.
