TAM Group accelerates expansion in ASEAN, announces multiple joint ventures with local partners

Leading Passenger and Air Cargo GSA Specialist TAM Group announces new offices and partnerships in Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi to accelerate the Group’s reach and capabilities in the region.

HONG KONG – TAM Group, a leading GSSA headquartered in Hong Kong, announces the opening of three offices in Southeast Asia. In response to the growing demand in the region, Tam Group has embarked on joint ventures with Thailand’s GP Group and Vietnam’s TP Cargo Transport Services to launch offices in the key strategic locations of Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.

The move signifies a return to normality for Asia-Pacific’s aviation industry as the world looks beyond the COVID-19 pandemic and into the future. While the global economy has been hampered by multiple headwinds, the region is set to continue along the path to recovery, thanks to burgeoning global and regional free trade agreements.

TAM Group is committed to expanding its footprint in the region in order to deliver far-reaching, exceptional service to its principals and support the aviation industry’s global recovery.

On the group’s foray into the region, Alvin Tam, VP, Commercial of TAM Group says: “I am honoured to have two great partners in the region that will help cater to our clients’ needs, and I am confident of a mutually beneficial partnership with all our stakeholders.”

In Thailand, TAM Group has partnered with GP Group, a Thailand-based strategic investment group with companies in diverse sectors, from logistics and pharmaceuticals to aviation and technology. Anju Shah, Managing Director of Geepee Air Service, TAM Group’s partner in Bangkok, says: “The Southeast Asia region is primed for growth. Amid a flood of global downgrades, Thailand’s economic outlook remains resilient, and the economy is poised for growth in coming years despite economic uncertainties and volatility. We look forward to tapping into new opportunities by combining our local market knowledge with TAM Group’s global reach. We are confident that this will be a successful collaboration that provides clients with a high standard of service.”

In Thailand, one of the first partners is Swan Hellenic, a British cruise line specialising in expedition tours of historical or cultural interest aimed at the higher end of the cruise market.

In Vietnam, TAM Group’s partner is TP Cargo Transport Services, a leading cargo GSA/GSSA operator. Director Jereemy Tan welcomes the partnership and mentions. “Vietnam is one of the world’s most exciting markets, with a growing economy and a young labour force. Aviation is one of the key factors behind Vietnam’s economic growth with the sector contributing an estimated US$12.5 billion to Vietnam’s GDP and over 2.2 million jobs, as per IATA estimate. Furthermore, Vietnam’s participation in the ‘ASEAN Open Skies’ since 2015 has helped create a favourable environment for the growth of air freight industry in the country. We look forward to connecting Vietnam with the world in partnership with TAM Group,” he says.

The Group was selected by China Cargo Airlines (CK) as the representative company for the carrier, effective early 2023. CK will operate four flights each week between Hanoi and Shanghai and one weekly flight between Ho Chi Minh City and Kunming.
