Hong Kong Airlines re-launches direct service to Kumamoto, marking its fifth new Japanese destination for 2023. The service, commencing on December 2, aims to meet the growing demand for travel options within Japan.

Hong Kong Airlines announced the resumption of direct service to Kumamoto this year, with a launch date set for 2 December 2023.

Having last operated this route in 2016, the company reintroduces this popular travel destination to its expanding network in Japan. The service will initially run three times a week, every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. This marks the fifth destination launched this year, joining the other Japanese destinations to provide more travel options and greater convenience for passengers travelling to and from Japan.

Situated in the heart of Kyushu, Kumamoto, with its rich cultural heritage and stunning natural surroundings, has become an increasingly popular destination for many nature enthusiasts. Travellers can hike or drive through dramatic volcanic landscapes and observe active volcanoes at Mount Aso, home to one of the world’s largest calderas. Designated as a national park, it showcases its abundant nature, including its enormous volcanic caldera. The energy emitted by this volcano also blesses Kumamoto with many delightful hot springs, inviting travellers to unwind in a hot spring for stress relief.

As Hong Kong Airlines’ second destination in Kyushu, Kumamoto will complement the existing daily flights between Hong Kong and Fukuoka. This will connect both the northern and central parts of Kyushu, offering more options for travel plans.

Hong Kong Airlines is continually expanding its map of Japan and always exploring more routes that suit many dream holidays. Including Kumamoto, the company currently operates flights to seven destinations in Japan and continues to adjust flight frequencies to meet travel demands. These include daily flights to Nagoya and Fukuoka, twice-daily flights to Okinawa, thrice-daily flights to Tokyo (Narita) and Osaka, and three weekly flights to Sapporo.
