Hong Kong Airlines announces a 3.8% salary increase for staff, reflecting its strong recovery and expansion plans.
HONG KONG – Hong Kong Airlines announces a salary increase averaging 3.8% for eligible staff, effective from 1 February 2024. The company has experienced a commendable recovery in its operations during 2023, reinstating 25 destinations and achieving an 85% passenger load factor over the past year.
The salary increment will result in a 3.8% rise in basic pay for eligible employees, including flight crew and ground staff; whereas, technical staff, primarily engaged in maintenance and engineering roles, will receive an average increase of 5% in their basic salaries. The percentage of these increments is based on the results of the employee performance appraisals conducted in 2023.
Furthermore, pilots will receive up to a 5% increase in their flying hourly rate. Staff will continue to be eligible for the discretionary variable incentives, subject to the Company’s performance and the individual’s fulfillment of specified appraisal criteria, as was the case last year.
Hong Kong Airlines Chairman Mr Jeff Sun stated, “Hong Kong Airlines’ rapid business recovery, particularly in light of the numerous challenges faced, was no small achievement. We have not only reinstated most of our in-demand destinations but have also introduced new popular spots for travellers. I am proud of our staff for their exceptional resilience and adaptability, ensuring our passengers’ safety and maintaining company’s revenue as well as outstanding punctuality during the transition period last year.”
