For four years The Lakes Cairns Resort and Spa operated while construction continued under a progressive build situation. An official opening in February this year marked its completion and signalled a new phase of operation for the award-winning property. This development brings with it the appointment of a new management team selected for their expertise in running large-scale accommodation.
This month saw the appointment and promotion of several new team members. All were welcomed aboard by the resort’s General Manager, Mark Hodge.
These include a new Director of Sales and Marketing, Rosie Douglas who will be supported by Glenn Fawcett who was promoted from sales co ordinator to sales manager.
Other new members are Katherine Plohl as Reservations Manager, Rikki Bang as Front Office Manager Darren Sills as Restaurant Manager and Ron Kleindienst promoted from garden hand to Head Gardener.
The Lakes Cairns Resort and Spa has been recognized by Queensland’s building industry as Australia’s premium resort and outdoor complex. Glencorp, a division of Glenwood Homes Pty Ltd was awarded Australia`s Outdoor Project of the Year for The Lakes Cairns Resort & Spa at the national awards held in Brisbane recently. This is the first time the award has been won by a north Queensland building company.
The Lakes Cairns Resort and Spa took home three major awards at the annual HMAA Awards dinner in Brisbane recently winning best 4-5 star resort in Queensland, best trainer of the year and best operator.
Just this month the property was awarded finalist in the Deluxe Accommodation category of Queensland’s Tourism Awards.
