Australia’s premier convention, exhibition and entertainment venue was awarded Bronze Tier status in Pride in Diversity’s Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI).

International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney), managed by ASM Global, is the first convention centre to be awarded a Bronze Tier status in Pride in Diversity’s Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI).

Driven by ICC Sydney’s internal LGBTQIA+ diversity focus group, The Same Same Collective, and underpinned by its Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Strategy, this accreditation highlights ICC Sydney’s proactive approach to creating an inclusive workplace.

ICC Sydney CEO and Group Director – Convention Centres, ASM Global (APAC), Geoff Donaghy said the accolade was welcome recognition of the team’s commitment to fostering an inclusive environment for its workforce, customers and visitors. “From day one, we set out to ensure ICC Sydney was a place of total respect, courtesy and inclusion for every visitor through our doors, and it is gratifying to have this formally recognised through Pride in Diversity’s Australian Workplace Equality Index. As the first convention centre to achieve this benchmark, ICC Sydney demonstrates a strong commitment to continuing to meet national standards with regards to workplace diversity, equity and inclusion,” Mr Donaghy said.

ICC Sydney Director of Human Resources, Luke Fleming said the submission into the Pride in Diversity program was a rigorous process for the team. “The Same Same Collective’s work on the submission was comprehensive and included reviewing our Human Resources policies and diversity practices. The team engaged our active LGBTQIA+ employee network and was diligent in elevating all forms of LGBTQIA+ inclusion. This included increasing visibility and support for transgender and gender diverse team members, creating awareness and education opportunities focused both internally and externally to support our clients in delivering events,” Mr Fleming said.

The Pride in Diversity Australian Workplace Equality Index stands as the definitive national benchmark on LGBTQIA+ workplace inclusion and comprises the only large, national employee survey designed to gauge the overall impact of inclusive initiatives on organisational culture as well as identifying and non-identifying employees.
