The Malaysian Tourism Agencies Association (MATTA) initiates two landmark MOUs at AITEX 2023, aiming to bolster Islamic tourism and Hajj-Umrah industry collaborations across the ASEAN region.
The Malaysian Tourism Agencies Association (MATTA), the main organizer of the Asia Islamic Tourism Expo (AITEX 2023), has witnessed two memorandums of understanding between Dato’ Dr. Mohd Khalid Harun President of MATA together with Mr. H Firman M Nur, President of the Muslim Association of Hajj and Umrah Organizers of the Republic of Indonesia (AMPUHRI) and Dato’ Dr. Mohd Khalid Harun President of MATA with Mr. Asrul Azis Taba, President of the Hajj Umrah Travel Association of the Republic of Indonesia (KESHTURI). These two memorandums were signed during the AITEX 2023 Minister & CEO Summit.
This council was established to further strengthen the Islamic tourism industry, Hajj and Umrah for the ASEAN Region as well as join hands between 2 countries with a high Muslim population density. It certainly opens up wider business opportunities in the Islamic tourism industry in the ASEAN Region.
MATTA is confident that with the establishment of the Islamic Tourism Council, more NGOs from other countries such as Singapore, Brunei, Thailand and Cambodia will join as members of the Council.
Businessmen from the Middle East & Asia who were present during the AITEX Minister & CEO Summit welcomed the establishment of this Council and it will be able to make ASEAN’s voice stronger and heard to fight for the Islamic Tourism industry including the Hajj and Umrah industry.
