To mark World Tourism Day 2004, the World Tourism Organization (WTO) is holding a promotional draw , with the winner receiving a free one-year subscription to its digital library(WTOelibrary).

To enter the web-based raffle, participants must correctly answer four questions on the following subjects: World Tourism Day, the WTOelibrary, the WTO`s conversion into a United Nations specialized agency, and the latest tourism statistics.

The purpose of this raffle is to raise worldwide awareness of World Tourism Day. WTO has decided to offer a special and attractive prize this year: a free one-year subscription to the WTOelibrary, said Dr. Dirk Glaesser, Head of the Publications Department. The WTOelibrary supports the need for continuous training and e-learning, a new and fundamental tool for tourism education in the coming years.

Among those who provide the right answers to the questionnaire, the price winner will be drawn and announced on World Tourism Day, the 27 September 2004 as from 2 p.m. GET on the Homepage of the World Tourism Organization.

The WTOelibrary is an online, fully cross-searchable portal of a vast number of WTO publications in their respective languages (already over 300 books in English, French, Spanish, Russian or Arabic) including the latest statistical information.

Access to the WTOelibrary is available by paid subscription. A one-year single-user subscription costs 2600 euros. This grants access to all electronic publications of the WTO for one year. Subscribers receive access to all existing publications plus new titles published during the subscription period, with new publications being uploaded continuously. A single-user account works on a username/password basis and allows only one user to be logged in at any given time. Network access is available for 6000 euros. This allows any number of users from a given IP range (e.g. a building or university campus) to access the WTOelibrary concurrently. Libraries participating in the WTO Depository Library Programme enjoy favourable terms of access to the WTOelibrary.
