Travel Technology Initiative is addressing its concerns that the travel industry is not fully embracing social media. It has organised a conference that will bring together social media experts who will be able to show industry players how to capitalise on this new communication channel. Speakers will talk about their hands-on experiences of using social media.
Peter Dennis, Chairman of TTI stated, “With over 3.5 billion pieces of content shared on Facebook each week and with 1.3 million tweets sent out per hour, it is vital that those in travel tap into social media. At TTI, we have been concerned that too many travel companies are either ignoring social media or not making the most of what is fast becoming the industry’s most significant customer communication channel. We have decided to take action by organising this event that will bring together a team of experts with real experience at using social media to drive business.”
The conference is set for 24 March in London. Speaking at the event are:
- Vikki O’Neill, Marketing & Branding Manager, Giraffe
- Colm Hanratty, Editor, Hostelworld.com
- Matt Rhodes, Clients Services Director, FreshNetworks
- Justin Reid, Head of Digital and Social Media, VisitBritain
- Adriana Conte, Social Media Programme Manager, VisitBritain
- Tim Gunstone, Managing Director, Eyefortravel
- Jeroen Van Velzen, CEO, The Sound of Data
- Alan Jaramillo, Key Account Manager Mice Sales, NH Hotels
- Anthony Rawlins, Managing Director, Digital Visitor
- Angela Fenocchi, PR and New Product Development Manager , Warner Leisure Hotels
Dennis continued, “Our aim at TTI is nothing less than being able to give those who attend a real competitive advantage. I want them to come away from the day with a better understanding of social media and use this as a powerful business tool to grab more customers.”
The conference is taking place on Thursday 24 March from 09:30 to 17:00, at Hesperia London Victoria Hotel.
