(Tokyo) – On Wednesday May 23, Japan’s capital finally experienced the opening of its highest tower to date, the 634 meter, the Tokyo Skytree. The tower’s height was originally specified at approximately 610m in the first project. However,  following discussions and research on high-rise buildings, it was finally decided that the new tower would have a total height of 634 meters and become the tallest free-standing broadcasting tower in the world. So far, the 634m-high Tokyo Skytree was recognized by the Guinness World Records Company on November 17, 2011 as the tallest tower in the world. Tokyo’s newest attraction is opened to the public. It is opened everyday from 8 am to 10 pm with ticket prices ranging from 300/500 Yen for infants and children up to 2,500 Yen for adults.

Tickets can be purchased in advance through travel agents or on the web for the ones who can read Japanese. Two floors are opened for visiting: at 350 m., the “Tokyo Skytree Tembo Deck” is covered in huge 5 meter-thick glass for a 360-degree all-round view up to 70 kilometers in case of good weather. The “Tokyo Skytree Tembo Galleria” is located at 450 m height with the impression for visitors to float in the sky.The tower is located in the northern centre of Tokyo in the Asakusa area.
