“The Detourist 100” 2.0: The blog on the future of travel

Kuoni has reworked and further developed the-detourist-100.org, its interactive platform for discussion on the topic of travel. The updated website is now up and running. The new centrepiece of the site is a blog inviting the public to engage in a broad-based discussion on the future of tourism. On top of that, an improved structure and additional elements such as a competition make the website even more attractive.

To inform and guide its activities, Kuoni has initiated a comprehensive debate on the future of travel. This includes the Brand Report 2010, which brings together pioneering articles on the topic by renowned philosophers, authors and thinkers in the newspaper ‘A Better Tomorrow”. Its core content and the 100 quotes on travel – from Socrates to Jimi Hendrix – have been incorporated in the Detourist website where they provide points of departure for an open discussion.

‘The Detourist 100” is meant to initiate a wide-ranging discourse on travel fuelled by the participation of as many individuals as possible. In support of this goal, the new blog forms the centrepiece of the reworked website. All interested readers are invited to share and discuss their thoughts on the future of travel with others. In addition, there is a competition offering a prize to the best 101st quote submitted each month. A newsletter regularly informs recipients about the most important new developments related to the Detourist project. And as in the past, visitors to the website can still order the newspaper ‘A Better Tomorrow” in printed format, a poster with the 100 quotes as well as the Detourist stickers.

With ‘The Detourist 100”, Kuoni aims to create an interactive reference work for the tourism industry, which is to be continuously updated as it takes reflections on travel in new directions. “We have engaged in discussions with philosophers and writers on an intellectual and abstract level. Now we want to listen to customers. We are inviting travellers to share their ideas, longings and thoughts with other users and with us. This form of exchange is indispensable as we seek to offer travel tailored to individual needs, both now and in the future,” said Remo Masala, Chief Branding & Marketing Officer of the Kuoni Group.
