THAI adjusts Middle East schedules to cope with network demands

From 16 May 2010, THAI will introduce tactical fleet and route adjustments to cater to current market situations and passenger requirements. In the Middle East, THAI will adjust the aircraft on the route between Dubai and Bangkok for flights TG517 and TG518 from the Airbus A340-600 to the Boeing 777. This will increase capacity in economy during the upcoming summer travel season.

Connections from the Middle East to Indonesia and Australia will be enhanced with the doubling of flights from Bangkok to Indonesia, including Bali, double daily. Flights from Bangkok to Brisbane will increase from 3 to 5 per week, and Bangkok to Auckland from 4 to 5 per week. Direct flights to Johannesburg from Bangkok will also resume 2nd June 2010 as part of the airline’s network and route expansion.

THAI achieved a network-wide cabin factor of 72.16% in April, in spite of challenges faced. The traditional low season is May/June but demand from the Middle East for routes to Thailand and beyond is expected to increase.

THAI maintains a consistently flexible approach to its network, routes and fleet allocations, allowing for proactive route development, increase in capacity during periods of peak demand and economically viable allocation of valuable resources.

Celebrating its 50th year as the Kingdom of Thailand’s National Carrier, THAI is also offering travellers from the Middle East Royal Orchid Holiday hotel discounts to selected destinations, and the opportunity to earn bonus miles on Royal Orchid Plus when flying THAI within Thailand in Economy and Royal Silk Class.
