The board of directors of the Tourism Development Authority (TDA), headed by Minister of Tourism Ahmed El-Maghrabi, agreed at a recent meeting to provide technical and financial support for touristic sites.

The board called for upgrading historical sites in order to attract tourists and investors as well. It also recommended boosting environmental tourism locally.

The meeting, attended by governors of the Red Sea, South Sinai and Aswan, stressed the importance of environmental development in touristic areas.

Meanwhile, Minister of Tourism has approved the participation of the Egyptian Union of Tourism Chambers in inspecting hotels.

The purpose is to ensure high-quality, international standards of service.

This approval comes in the light of efforts exerted to encourage the private sector to get more involved in tourism development and upgrading of hotels in general.
