TAM opens an office in Japan

TAM, the largest airline in South America, has opened its first representation office in Tokyo. The aim of the new office is to strengthen TAM’s footprint in the Asian market, capturing new clients while increasing sales throughout the region. TAM will work through a GSA that will have a team exclusively dedicated to TAM’s business interests.

“Opening an office in Tokyo is part of our international expansion strategy,” explains Paulo Castello Branco, TAM’s Commercial and Planning VP. “The Japanese market has great potential, and we will be able to offer even greater and better links between Brazil and Japan after we officially join the Star Alliance on 13 May.”

Present at the opening of the new TAM office in Tokyo were the Brazilian Ambassador to Japan, His Excellency Luiz Augusto de Castro Neves, TAM’s Commercial and Planning VP, Paulo Castello Branco, as well as other TAM executives, local officials, authorities and guests. During the event, the new TAM manager for Japan, Giuliano Ponzio, was introduced.

In Asia, TAM already has representation offices in South Korea, Hong Kong, Thailand and Taiwan. As of May, the airline will also have a representative in India.
