BEIJING – Sunrise Kempinski Hotel, Beijing & Yanqi Island, managed by Kempinski, is now accepting reservations for stays as of 17 November 2014. The hotel and island are set to become Beijing’s new destination for leisure and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions).

We anticipate that leisure travellers will be an important market for our Sunrise Kempinski & Yanqi Island destination accounting for 40% of our total revenue,” says general manager Brice Pean.

In 2013, just Mutianyu Great Wall alone, which is only about 30 minutes’ drive away, attracted over 2.79 million visitors. Other nearby attractions include a water sport centre, horseback riding, Hongluo Temple, Qinglong Gorge and Baiquan Mountain. There are plenty of activities and attractions to offer families and their children in this area. In the past, tourists drove through to visit these places without stopping, because there wasn’t any facility for them to rest and have fun at — now they do. “We want to encourage travellers to stretch their stay in the Yanqi Lake area, by breaking their trip with a rest at our hotel. Our new destination is set to offer guests an exciting experience of a fully integrated resort on the outskirts of Beijing,” said Pean.

Yanqi Lake is a beautiful scenic site located at the foot of the Yan Mountains, surrounded by a variety of trees including pine, poplar and willow. The island is a natural habitat for various species of birds, including rare migrant birds and geese, especially during spring and autumn. The name Yanqi Lake literally translates as ‘Swans Dwell on the Lake’.

Be it dining with loved ones, entertaining business associates, hosting a meeting or staging a global summit, celebrating a large or intimate wedding, or a weekend escape with the family, the facilities at the new Sunrise Kempinski & Yanqi Island destination offer guests a surprising change from their traditional experience in a resort hotel.

The Sunrise Kempinski Hotel, Beijing & Yanqi Island destination is the Official Host Venue for APEC China 2014.
