Singapore Cruise Centre wins award for security excellence

In 26 years of operations, SCC has had an impressive zero fatal accident record.

Singapore – Singapore Cruise Centre (SCC) has been conferred the Gold award for security excellence, marking it the third time that SCC has received this accolade from Singapore’s Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

The Gold TOPSIS award was given to SCC for its effective implementation of security measures at its ferry and cruise terminals. The TOPSIS, or the “Threat-oriented Passenger Screening Integrated System” programme involves complementing the usual screening measures at checkpoints by security officers with the detection of suspicious behaviours by non-security staff. The Gold standard is the highest accolade that MHA confers for outstanding contributions to TOPSIS implementation at border checkpoints.

In addition, five from SCC’s staff were presented with Individual awards for their efforts in maintaining and driving TOPSIS measures. SCC’s security head, Panirsilvam s/o M Appavoo, Manager (Security/Safety), was honoured with individual TOPSIS Star Award, and other personnel, Jody Vasudevan, Mohamed Kaiash, Muhammad Fadhlin bin Abdul Rahim and Razalee Bin Abdul Latiff, received TOPSIS Champion awards.

SCC’s CEO Christina Siaw said: “It is a tremendous honour to be recognised yet again for our efforts in maintaining the highest standards in maritime safety and security. The awards are a testament to the efforts of our employees, especially our security and operations colleagues, tenants, cleaners, porters and all the other personnel who work as a team and stay watchful all the time to keep our terminals safe.

We will continue to exercise vigilance as we work to maintain SCC’s world-class status.”

In 26 years of operations, SCC has had an impressive zero fatal accident record.

The awards were presented at the TOPSIS Forum 2018 held at the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority Building earlier this afternoon.
