Millennials will change the Business Events sector – the way we operate, the tools we use, and the decisions we will make.

Kuching – Sarawak Convention Bureau (SCB) reiterates its commitments to young professionals as it continues to award and recognise their contributions to the Business Events sector at the upcoming 9th Anak Sarawak Awards this August.

Millennials will change the Business Events sector – the way we operate, the tools we use, and the decisions we will make. This is a generation that is passionate about change, creating high-impact memorable experiences and having a tenacious drive to learn,” began Amelia Roziman, Chief Operating Officer of SCB.

These are the necessary qualities for a destination which thrives on being bold and creative. We are proud to have spearheaded initiatives such as the Anak Sarawak Young Leader Scholarship Award for young professionals to pursue their passion, and in turn adds value to the sector,” she continued.

With a grant of RM10,000 for marketing and training support, potential winners of the Anak Sarawak Young Leader Scholarship Award will be granted exclusive access to top-tier decision makers from associations, industry partners, global and national media, and government officials at the Business Events Tribal Meet (TriBE) 2018.

Charlene Bong, the winner of the previous award in 2016, has catapulted her career with a certification in exhibition management by the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE). The former marketing and communications manager for Pullman Kuching has founded Spark Creations – an innovative and progressive IT digital marketing and event management & communication company.

After being recognised as the winner of Young Leader Scholarship Award, SCB has helped me to advance my career on many different levels by giving me the opportunity to be trained and to be exposed in Business Events,” commented Bong.

With the incumbent digital revolution, I believe that millennials are able to contribute innovative ideas and creativity to this industry,” concluded the founder of Spark Creations.

The Anak Sarawak Awards (ASA), organized by the Sarawak Convention Bureau, is the first award in Malaysia that accredits the contribution of convention hosts and industry partners to the growth of the meetings industry.
