New York, US – Ovolo Hotels and Cathay Pacific have launched a limited-time partnership between the two Hong Kong-based leaders in the travel industry. Through June 2024, passengers traveling in Premium Economy and Economy classes on select long-haul Cathay Pacific flights originating in Hong Kong will enjoy a menu of contemporary plant-based dishes developed by the leading Hong Kong restaurant, VEDA by Ovolo.

“VEDA and Ovolo Hotels pride ourselves on being an industry leader. We believe that the world changes, therefore we continue to evolve,” said Ovolo Hotels Founder and Executive Chairman Girish Jhunjhnuwala. “We want to ensure we are doing our bit to help preserve our environment, promote healthy eating and enhance the image of amazing vegetarian and plant-based dining. Our collaboration with Cathay Pacific aligns perfectly with this mantra and our Plant’d pledge, and our wider ‘Do Good. Feel Good’ sustainability commitment.”

Passengers traveling in Cathay Pacific Premium Economy from Hong Kong will have the choice to select a fully plant-based meal, including such VEDA signature dishes as an appetizer of Bombay carrot salad with cashews, raisins and cherry tomatoes, and a flavor-rich main dish such as Keralan-style coconut curry with mushrooms, red bell peppers and cumin rice. In Economy Class, the vegan offering might include an appetizer of purple quinoa tabbouleh and a main dish of Khao soi – Northern Thai-style coconut curry noodles with mixed vegetables.

“It gives us great pleasure to announce this new partnership with VEDA, a Hong Kong restaurant that shares our commitment to providing fantastic cuisine while also being more sustainable,” said Vivian Lo, Cathay Pacific General Manager Customer Experience and Design. “Drawing inspiration from the breadth and variety of VEDA’s dishes, we have collaborated with VEDA and Ovolo Hotels Executive Chef Raul Tronco to develop a reimagined selection of plant-based creations that reflect our brand values of thoughtful and progressive, and go beyond the norms of airline vegetarian meals.”

This exclusive, new collaboration aligns with VEDA’s and Ovolo Hotels’ ongoing Plant’d pledge to ethical, conscious vegetarian cuisine, which it initiated in 2022, when it became the first hotel brand globally to commit to plant-based cuisine.
